Does anyone still use wax around the yes on a wt deer? I have been using the black Apoxie Sculpt as the wax I ever purchased I could never get soft enough by heating to work good.

On their wt deer eyes? The wax I used I couldn't get it soft enough to work and spread good. I use Apoxie Sculpt now.Wax and epoxie-- 2 different things!

Most prefer epoxie

I used some of the sallie dahmes wax on a few deer heads and though, what am I doing wrong? The stuff wouldn't soften up much or spread well. So you're not alone! I then tried apoxie sculpt, and what a difference!

Wax on Eyes

The wax I use around the eyes, I have to set the wax ball under a 100 watt light bulb and let the heat from the bulb soften the wax. Then you can take a modeling tool and scrap the wax up and form around the eyes. Always worked great for me.

Both have pros and cons

I've used Dahme's wax, and used a small light bulb to heat it. It became very pliable and was nice to use. Apoxie Sculpt is also great stuff! Which is better? Methinks perhaps it's a matter of choice.

I wonder if anyone has done a comparison study on them, to compare how they hold up in the long run, through temperature and humidity changes?

I Quit Using the Wax

because over time the skin may shift slightly ( due to temperature and humidity changes ) and the wax has no adhesive properties, which results in cracking and separating around the eyes. The Apoxie Sculpt holds securely and will not release over time. Just my experiences.
