A friend of mine, whom I mounted a deer for last year, called me the other day saying the ear hair on his mount was turning yellow.I asked if he'd been smoking in the house, a wood burner problem ect.and he said no. I then went and checked another mount that still hasn't been picked up from last year, and it's ears have yellowed.Does anyone have any ideas as to why this happened, or how to "clean" it off? I used hyro-mist paints and McKenzie's ear adhesive. The hide was tanned by the wildlife gallery and all the other white hair is fine.

If you'll look in the search under yellos ear hair you'll find you're not the only one having this problem with McKenzie ear adhesive. Could be coincidence but it's starting to look like a trend. I use Epo-Grip with good success. Just switched from the quick set to the 3-4 hour set for more working time. Good Luck - Jeff F.
Thats YELLOW ear hair. OOPS!
Is it the cartilageliner adhesive? I have used thier ear adhesive Catalog #EARH for several years and never seen a problem like you are describing. Just can't belive the adhesive will turn hair yellow but I have been wrong before. I would like to know which adhesive it is since they have more than one. Gary (<:
on the hair turning yellow over time? Maybe lacquer thinner will take it off.
The adhesive I have been using is the EARH.I just talked to a guy who has used the EARH for years and it started to yellow his deer ears too. I guess I will go back to the cartilage liner adhesive for now (I still have some)and figure out what I will use in the future. As far as the overspray, I have not tried lacquer thinner, but I will.I am not convinced it's the paint at this point.Thank you to all who answered.
