I usually use a short Y incision, but when it comes to sewing it shut I can never get all 3 seams to come perfectly together. I always have one side that is about 1/2" off.
Is there an easy way to sew the seam without any one side being off?

I start at the antlers/ I begin about 1/4 inch in from the antler hole. sew to the intersection keeping each stitch the same distance. then tie off. start the same on the other antler. then go to the end of the incision works out perfect every time
You are not making even stitches, in the side thats longer make several extra stitches closer together.

That's one reason the 7 incision works so good--only one set of stitches to watch. dex
Once you get the fork of the Y sewed up and start down the main seam about 2" stop and begin at the other end of the incision and sew toward the head. Tie it off when you meet. I had the same problem, this solved it for me.
I use two needles and sow each side of the y incision at the same time. I make 4 to 6 stitches on one side then switch and make the same on the opposite side. The y always comes together evenly. Jim
If you're having a real problem getting your sewing even, try making a perpendicultar cut (a very short slice!) across your Y incision, every 1 or 2 inches. This will allow you to just line up your cross-cuts every two inches of stitching...I use this method on Cougar tails and it works...
If you want to twist this a bit so you don't make more cuts, maybe use a permanent marker and mark the seam every two inches all the way down...then just stitch to the marks...
