wire wheel can cause excessive heat on the skin and hair will fall out. You can read all about it in the archives. good luck

i have never had any hair fall out from using a wire wheel - i use it for doing lips and around eyes and snout - i use a generic wheel (stiff)- pull skin taut between fingers when removing flesh and it will roll offf - use rotary wheel for big jobs - ww too slow here

Terry is right

I use 2 8 inch wheels a very stiff bristled wire wheel on the left side and a corse stone wheel on the right. I have a 3,500rpm 3/4 horse bench grinder. and personally it does the job for me ,i can turn out approx 50minutes to an hourwhich i dont think is really all that bad.I almost wish i had a bigger grinder. The grinder can and will dry out the hide as you go. but deffently keep a spray botter near by to give the hide a shot from time to time. this method works and alot of people will gripe about this method but i can honestly say i havent had any problems .
