I have used a couple differnt paste, but have also had alot of people tell me about home made hide paste, does anyone have a good proven hide paste formula they will share or is all this talk just a bunch of bull about good home made hide paste?

You can mix it to your preffered thickness. just use hot water. Some people add a bit of podwered clay to it and whiting. The mixture all depends on the quality of the dextrine you buy. Just experiment unti you find one you like.
Shane....I used to used yellow dextrine on ALL my mounts in my shop. I used to mix it up with warm water and elmers wood glue using a hand held cake mixer......It was cheap and held reasonably good.......UNTIL....I heard from a museum taxidermist that bugs actually like the taste of dextrine....it is sweet to them. This guy has the background to stand behind his claims.As soon as I heard that I stopped using the dextrine and now use Buckeye Supreme....Dont skimp on the glue, trust me it'll come back on you in the end. The name brands these guys on here recommend are all great glues. Dont try and come up with some home concoction.... I can assure you you'll be sorry. Use the good stuff! Besides your hide preparation being top notch......the glue is your next best step to a better mount.
