I have heard a lot of good things here on the forum about joe coombs forms so i figured i would try one. the problem is the catalog says all masuements are taken with the skin removed. how in the world do you measure eye to nose with the head skinned. thanks for your time. i just don't want to order the wrong form. also are the coombs forms narow face like our deer here in sc.?

I have used Coombs forms since the 80's and here is what I do. Lee, you will have to measure the nose to eye before you skin, you simple misunderstood that part of his instructions. I'm from Tn and I have always measured my neck measurements over the hair before I skin. On deer from TN, that is, and never had a problem with the form fitting. Just make sure you pull the tape down pretty snug and take the the 2 neck measurements where he indicates. What I have found is that you can't measure over the hair on deer from up north. Their hair is so thick it adds considerable to the measurement and you will end up with much too big of a form. I think you should have similar results with your SC deer.

Hope this helps.
