Whitetail eyes(tucking or lay method)

I am just starting out learning to do whitetails, I ordered a video from Research Mannikins and the way they show in the video is to do the lay method around the eyes. A friend of mine has been showing me some some pointers but he was taught the tuck method, I was just curious what a lot of other taxidermist use? I was looking at the new Rinehart catolog and they have the new mannikins that already have the eyes installed and you would have to use the lay method on them.

Best of both worlds

Everybody will have a difference of opinion on this subject as to what works the best. It would be beneficial to you to learn both of these methods and to use them to your advantage. Why? If during the fleshing process you happen to remove too much or you completely remove the eye skin you will need to use the lay on method. If on the other hand you have all or most of the skin you can use the tuck method. Learn and use both ways for this is the best of both worlds, but once again opinions vary.

Used the tuck method for years. After some coaxing from a few local World Champions I started the "lay method" I like it better. Neither is Better, it is just what you prefer.
