Blood stain on velvet...

Submitted by MIke Dunbar on 10/15/2003. ( ) 64.91.84.89

the archives has info. on removing velvet, blood stained antlers. But, I have a deer in velvet, and the customer got blood on the velvet, it is now dry and in the freezer, awaiting freeze drying. Can I get the blood off the velvet and at what point should I try, now or after freeze drying? Thanks.

leave the blood on the velvet

Mike leave the blood on the velvet and during the freeze dry process it will turn to powder, because the moisture will be pulled out of the blood. After we get our antlers out of the dryers we brush the velvet with a bottle brush. The blood comes off easily. Believe me it works, we do alot of velvet antlers.

Thank you
