I've got a couple deer in this year that had some golf ball sized rubbed spots on the front of the brisket, hair is completely gone. I know to make a football shaped cut and then remove the hairless part, then sew it back up. My question is should I make vertical cuts or horizontal ones? Seems to mee that if I make vertical cuts it will mess up the hair pattern once it's mounted on the form, but on the other hand,if I make horizontal cuts and only one side of the brisket is missing hair then by cutting out that portion it won't match the pattern on the other side. Should I just taxi the skin to make it symetrical as best I can? This is the first deer I've got with the brisket hair messed up. sorry for the long winded post.

you should always go with the grain hair
