you can also buy citric, oxalic, or formic acid.
saftee acid from McKenzie: one half ounce acid, one pound non iodized salt, to one galion water, minimum ten galions, for each deer cape. Pickle for three days, stirring each day. Maintain a PH level of 1.0-2.0. After pickeling, neutralize in one tablespoon baking soda to one galion of water, minimum three galions water. Then go on with your tanning. I use McKenzie Tan. It gives me good stretch. And I've found it to be one of the better tanning solutions.
