After the skull has benn cleaned is it necessary to use bot peroxide and bleach?

You don't NEED to whiten anything, it is strictly customer preference. My private collection generally stays natural bone colour, no whitening. Notice I say WHITENING and not BLEACHING. Next to boiling (or maybe before it) bleaching is the worst thing you can do to bone. Do not use any chlorinated bleach product (eg - any type of bleach you use for clothing). You run the risk of decalcifying the bone and causing it to be weakened. If your customer likes the look of white bone - then use peroxide. 40% from beauty shops if you don't mind the risk of buring yourself and want to get the job done FAST. 3% from the pharmacy if you want a safe, easy way to do it which will take 2-3 days. The 3% will also disinfect the interior of the bone. Being a paste the 40% won't do that. I use 3% whenever I do whiten my osteological material.
