A Measurment

Submitted by Eddie on 12/26/2003. ( NDAWOODS25@aol.com ) 64.12.96.202

I was told in the past that with the A measurement on a WT I can give or take 1" when ordering my form. I have never had a problem with it not fitting but how much can I actually play with before I have too much slack or not enough?

Add or Subtract from the form

Eddie If you really want your mount to turn out its best I would suggest either adding to the form or Subtracting from it to get as close to the exact measurement as possible. Thats not to say that you cant use a form that has a "A" measurement that is a 1/2" short. I just like to keep a snug fit from the start because I think they look better when they dry down. Just one mans opinion. Good luck Dean

Dean is right. 1/2 is close enough

If its a southern whitetail its better the form be 1/4 or 3/8 shorter. due to the thin faces. The farther north and northwest you go then you can get a bit longer nose. the cape normally lets way out as you shave the face.

Many deer will let out in the jaw area to some huge extent, this too can give you extra room in the head area.

my opinion

i have always been a stickler to getting the right size - but this year i am going to start ordering the forms 1/2" longer on purpose - the fac gets longer and longer the more you flesh - tucking 6 inches of skin into a 3" slot is bugging me more and more
