I have several deer hides with the fur on. I would like to sew the hides together and then quilt a backing of some blanket sort. In sewing two pieces of fur together, would I shave the hide at the edges to be quilted? And what type of thread is recommended?

CATHERINE, I TANNED A DEER HIDE, MY INTENTION WAZ TO MAKE A GUN SCAVERT AND THA FUR WOULD BE GOOD PADDING FOR THA GUN. AZ I WAZ CUTTING & ASSEMBLING THA THING, HAIR KEPT RAININ OFF THA HIDE. THA LOCAL TAXIDERMIST AN HE TOLD ME DEER HAIR IZ BASICALLY HOLLOW. AND IT WILL KEEP BREAKING THA MORE IT WAZ USED. I SCRAPPED THA PROJECT.
