I was wondering if they made eyes that had the pupil off center. It would be easier to make a deer look in a certain direction if they were more forward or down or etc... It is like if you keep your head looking at this computer screen and then without moving your head looked at your mouse the only thing that would have changed is the positon of your pupil, your eye didn't change shape or angle. If you had an actual glass eye(ball or sphere as opposed to half sphere) you could position the pupil at different angles. I was just thinking, i am sure i am not the first one to think about this, so just let me know what is wrong with my theory.

I know its hard to see a fresh deer eye but they are not round.
There are several good eyes on the market, take one of the better ones and make your own.
i would like to see another one of thess,
i seen a deer mount(DOE)that has a chea-pet down her back
right befor you tack the hide on back bord.

you just had to see it for your self
Have you tried any of the pre-rotated eyes? You may position the white in front or back, as needed. As John said, eyes are actually round like a ping-pong ball. There are several anatomically correct eyes currently being manufactured, which may be rotated as needed. Use a small ball of clay in the back if you desire to make them more ball-shaped. Of course, you'll have to dremel out the eye orbit a lot to accept the shape.
Oops! Left out the NOT. Sorry! =)
Good to see you using your noodle. We all strive to build a better mousetrap! But, sorry to say, when an eye moves, the pupil doesnt move within the eye to remain in a line of site. It does dilate and contract, but it does not move. That said, when an eye rotates, the surface shape does indeed change. In fact, the reason the eye does rotate is because the pupil cant! Picture this...grab a water ballon and squeeze it a bit. See how the front puckers, bulges out? Now picture your fingers being those muscles that direct and rotate the eye. Pull one or two fingers tighter as though you are moving that ballon and watch the shape of the surface change. Same principle.
It cant get any easier then cutting out some foam in the deer form and rotating the eye just the same as in real life. But for those who wont do this, they do have off set or pre-rotated eyes. All this is are eyes that have the art work shifted, or offset, to make the eye appear redirected. The surface hasnt changed, so theyre not competition accurate, but many, many taxidermists use them everyday in the commercial studio.
thank you all I appreciate it
