I think I have it narrowed down to one of three brushes that I can buy localy, along w/parts and accessories. My budget for this initial investment including paints for deer is $200.00
By using a 40% off coupon I can get one of these kits for $60.00 - $80.00 at my local hobby store.
1. Badger anthem in kit form...now this one has an adjustable tip - right? ie. not interchangeable nozzle/tips like most.
2. Vega 2000 in kit form...includes #1, #3, #5 tips hose etc..
3. Aztec 470 in kit form... includes #1, #3, #5 tips hose etc..
To start I will primarily be finishing whitetails with it. I intend to get to the rest...birds, fish and habitat bases in time.
I'd like to get started with a quality, versatile brush that is user- friendly and has parts/accessories readily available.
What are the MUST HAVE accessories in order to achieve successful airbrushing? ie..regulator, moisture trap, nozzles, cleaning station, "needle-poker/cleaner thingy", solvents, retarder, paints, spare parts that always break/wear-out/get clogged whatever......... any suggestions would be helpful, better yet, a concise list w/brief explanation would be great.
I need to make this investment to start practicing and getting aquainted with it and I'd rather not fumble through it with the wrong equipment. I intend to use water-based paints for the health and safety concerns. Poly-transpar the best?
I have a couple of paint schedules for doing whitetails, but suggestions are welcome.
Serious responses only please.......thanx-my $$$$ don't come easy

Hey you can go wrong with the Aztec.its very user friendly and easy to clean.make sure and get a fine nozzel you will like using it.i do believe that polytranspar the best paints.i never get consistant with Lifetone colors.i do hear the wildlife series water colors are really good also.................kenny
Dont buy the Vega..I had one for awhile, and it was a fantastic airbrush...however, when I needed parts for it, the company that makes it , Thayer and Chandler, went belly up, so parts werent available...I switched to an IWATA ECLIPSE...works excellent...Rich
Vega was an OK airbrush, but cant find replacement needle. If I were starting off I would buy the Paasche H single action airbrush. Its cheap ($25), reliable, and easy to get parts for, and still used by many professionals. Once you get the hang of it and decide you like airbrushing (some people dont) move up to the double action Paasche or Iawata.
Paasche H. You can get it in a complete kit and buy the other two tips and you're in business. Great airbrush, easy to maintain, and most suppliers carry replacement parts. I have 4 airbrushes and I always seem to return to old reliable.(my Paasche) Good Luck! Jeff F.
