I am just beginning and have never mounted a whitetail before.I would like too know what type of tools specialty or otherwise that I will need to get started,or make the job more pleasurable. The names of the tools, and what they are used for,and best places to purchase them would be a big help. THANK YOU! I have been trying to soak up as much information as I can before starting and this forum has been a great tool in seeing some of the problems that are encountered and there solutions. Again Thanks!

1 Buy a Whitetail mounting video from any supple house http://www.McKenziesp.com/mcktaxid.asp

2. Most videos will tell you to tann the hide I will tell you to use Dry Preserve form the supply house FOR YOUR 1ST ONE so you don't spend a lot to deside if you love it or hate Taxidermy.

3. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS ON THE TAPE! It will tell you what tools will be needed. You will need at a minimum the following:
Knife
Razor blades
Hide Thread and hide needles
Fleshing beam ( 2x6 worked great for me when I started out.
Hide Paste that is Dry Preserve compatable.
A beaming Knife. Your moms dull butcher knife will work ok for the 1st time.

The biggest helpful tool is the little orange button to the left that says serch. Type your question and you will find many many different answers. 99% of the time all will work. Consentrate on responces submited by Bill Yox, Cecil Baird, John C and some of the other wise guys.

God Bless
