Dry Preserving Deer Hide

I have a frozen hide that hasn't been rough fleshed yet. After fleshing it, is it ok to salt it for several days, rehydrate, DP and mount?

Just wait until you can dp it.

You are putting the hide at risk, it don't do any good to salt rehydrate and dp a hide.

DP directions is, flesh, turn dp and mount.

Why add extra work and then risk the hide slipping when you rehydrate.

Take the easy way

Yeh, it would save you a lot of time and potentially a cape by just skipping all that other stuff, when you are better off just to dp and mount.

The answers you recieved tell you how to do it easier but not properly. You should look into learning how to tan your own hides in order to provide your customer a more stable product rather than looking for an easier way.
