I checked the archives and only found one posting on this. I have mounted several whitetails with pretty good success. I recently was approached by a friend and he asked me to teach him. I left the room for a moment while he was turning the eyelids and when I got back he had removed all of the skin so there is nothing left to tuck. I have heard of another method of laying on the skin around the eyes but I have no idea how to do this. I realy dont want to toss the cape because it is real nice and about 21". Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

around the eyes, if you use a good glue you will not have any problems.
i use the tuck method with all my deer heads but not with my elk. i cut all the excess off the eye and just use my hide paste around the eye when mounting. just lay the eye in place and use a brush instead of a modeling tool. take your time and lay it there nice. watch it as it sets for a few days and use your epoxy for head finishing and the results will be pleasing.
