Number of animal rights people whose large intestine doesn`t normally encompass their head?Roughly ZERO!
You have no right posting that on this website. We don't go on your 'save the animal' sites and post crap about killing them. Hunting is more than killing, but obviously you wouldn't know that!
Geez. We've become very jumpy since Cecil's made peace. I thought it was rather cute and certainly true except for the last sentence. I'm assuming Terry V is one of us unless someone's stolen his name. Get a grip.
BTW, most of the baseball players I played with years ago couldn't have done any of that either, so I already know about NASCAR drivers and professional bowlers. Bet you Bo Jackson couldn't have done it either.
Hunting is something i do every chance i get. i've played most sport games and i don't feel that hunting is a sport. it is so much more than that. sorry you guys took it the wrong way.......guess i should have said.. sure glad i get to use my bow and rifle.
This is something for you to chew on our (sport)as its liked to call as come under so much fire that any hunter worth his or her weight is going to stand up and defend it.Its not a spot to us its a way of life, most of us grew up with our dads or grandads taking us hunting. So be careful of what you say.Personaly I love to see so many willing to stand up and say (HELL NO )to your response. Not to run you down,we do live in a free country, and your opinion doea count, but think of this, there are so few of us and so many of them.So if you didnt mean what you wrote here is some sound advice (DONT DO IT AGAIN) Thanks for you time fellow Hunter Benjamin P. Hebert
It was funny and truthfull! I understood it perfectly. Jeff F.
with George, I thought it was meant as a joke and not a slam on hunting. I admit the one thing that gave me any reason to think otherwise, was the last sentence. But in my opinion, he came back with a pretty reasonable explanation for it.
We have to able to laugh at ourselves sometimes.
Hunting actually IS a way of life for most of us, but I just saw figures yesterday to the effect that without an extreme effort on OUR part, hunting is quickly being lost. The most vulnerable age bracket that we've lost is kids between the ages of 8 and 18. How many kids do you know in that age bracket? Are they sitting behind their computers, watching MTV or playing with their video games. How about skateboarding? Kids no longer gather to play baseball or football like when I was young. Neither do they get together to go out hunting. Both parents (many times, single parents) don't get them involved in shooting sports or the outdoors. Now soccer(which in my opinion is just a stupid playground game)has taken over.
So NOW some of us want to get defensive? TOO LATE. Get off your butts and stop talking and start doing. Take a kid hunting or fishing, join your local Hunter Education group and participate. If you truly feel as strongly as I saw a couple of these messages on a cute and innocent joke reflect, then you should be doing something to protect your investment. Just talking about it ain't cutting it any more.
But a man who speaks from the heart(is it orange?) at times. My boy,11, loves nothing more than a good squirrel hunt but is quickly becoming an avid deer hunter since he's finally figuring out what sitting still for more than 5 minutes means.(LOL)
But seriously, as a man who works full time, does taxidermy, and has a family at the same time I understood the similarities of the joke. If I had time to practice running around the block, there better be a nice buck wating! Jeff F.
Geez Terry, werent you simply stating through those interesting and similar statistics that deer and humans have those numbers in common, and isnt that ironic, and its a good thing WE are the hunter, and not them? Even if I didnt know who you are already, I didnt see anything threatening about your post. Oh well, some of us understood you, anyway...Good to see you posting again, Terry!
I personnaly took no offense to "TV's" remark. I too never really thought of hunting as a sport, it is truly so much more than that...

On-line dictionary says: SPORT
(def.'s 1 & 2) Organized activity requiring physical exhertion, governed by a specific set of rules, and generally structured in a competitive manner.
(def. #3) Active pastime;Recreation
(def. #4) An organism that has undergone some sort of mutation from its origin.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Though hunting activities can cover the extremes from very passive to full-out "cardiac exhertion", and is governed by varying sets of "rules", most of us prefer not to catagorize hunting as competitive.
Obviously the 3rd definition seems to define hunting in a general sense as most of perceive it. "An active pastime and form of recreation."
But,
Though likely not the intent of the origional post..... what about the competitivness(sp.?) issue as it relates to hunting? Is it good for hunting, are competitions, contests and record books good for hunting? or even fishing for that matter?
And when we involve ourselves openly in competitive hunting and fishing activities, how is it perceived by non-participants?
