Hi all, I am fairly new to taxidermy and there is a convention in Connecticut coming up in June that I will be attending. There is going to be seminar on mounting a whitetail with Pete Lajoie. I have never heard of this guy and was wondering if he is a reputable guy and if he does quality work. Thanks for your input.

I don't think Pete would be offended if you called him "reputable", but that's selling him a little short. He has a boatload of accreditations and you'll just be fortunate to get his instructions free for the price of admissions.
The point is most associations have skilled people do the seminars.
I dont know Pete but do know he has won a ton of awards.
Do you know who Don Frank is? Maybe not, Don has won tons of awards too. Even recently. Dons a little higher profile than Pete but there are alot of older taxidermist you have never heard of.
If you are in doubt just ask and some here knows of them!
I was fortunate to see a piece that Pete had put together called the Sleeping Giant. It was 1/2 a deer mounted on stand that was a giant curled maple leaf. Pete had entered this piece in the highest division at the show and walked away with all sorts of awards. I'm looking forward to seeing his seminar, maybe I'll see you there.
Pete is more than qualified to teach at any show, any level. Pete beat me at the NTA show in Buffalo a few years back. He has done very well at the state level for years, including our NY show, as well as Conn. He mounts upwards of 300 heads a year commercially. Us easterners have seen Petes work for years now.
