How to Piece Together Antlers

I found a lot of caribou antlers while working in Alaska. However, my only choice of getting them home was to cut them up. Some are in 3 pieces per side. How can seamlessly piece them back together. Also, many are grass (or tundra) stained. Is sanding acceptable? Is airbrushing the only way?

drill & glue

Drill the ends of each piece in the center, put in a piece of heavy duty wire or steel rod with smooth out or another maybe faster setting epoxy. Squeeze the 2 pieces together straight to dry.
As for the grass stain, use 409 or a bleach cleaner(for counter tops or bathrooms) even put alittle pure bleach on it then wipe it off, one stain at a time. Should come right off. I personally wouldn't sand them to take off a stain.
Hope that helps.

Grass is a protien stain.

Learned this from Mom cleaning my grass stained jeans. Use a detergent and COLD water for grass stains. Michelle is on the money about the repairs. When glue dries, fill seam with apoxi sculpt and smooth. Stain. No problem.
