Cleaning old white tail skull/hide?

Submitted by John Madson on 03/31/2004 at 22:39. ( jmadson@nconnect.net ) 66.84.174.4

I have not been able to find any help regarding this in the achieves. I have a
customer that has given me a white tail skull and antlers for antler repair, cleaning and whitening the skull. The shed was found a year after
he killed it so there is a lot of rotted/dried meat and hide on it. Will
boiling with water and sal soda help loosen what's left or is there a better way?

Thanks for all the help
John

I just cleaned one that was hanging outside for 4 months. I boiled it in water and sal soda for just a short time. The lightly sprayed it with a pressure washer. Repeating this until clean.

I don't know if it was the correct way but it worked
