Drying time for deer

I was wandering how long of a drying time do you guys and gals leave your deer go before doing the finishing touches? I know that humidity and all of that goes into consideration but I am doing my work in the basement of our house in a controlled atmosphere. I have been letting it go for about 3 weeks. I have not heard any complaints from any customers. I have only been doing taxidermy for a couple of years, and was curious what every one else was doing. Thanks

We usually start finish work on deer-shoulder mounts when the ear butts are dry inside/hard to the squeeze on the base of the ear butts, and the brisket will not pull away with the pins-the glue is dry; approx. two-three weeks.-Susan

My enviroment is simaliar to yours. I adjust my mounts for the first few days then I usally put a fan on them for a couple more. I do the same as Susan with my ear butts. Normally about three weeks.

works, well, I tried it and it really did a good and is very safe to

use. I will be in Kans. this summer and I would like to meet you!

Sorry, for doubting you Mr. Nelson, Thank`s for the good advice.

You said you would be glad to show anyone your mounts, I can`t wait

to see them and I bet you can teach me a lot of other things.

I will E-Mail you before I will stop in. Thank`s again!
