The tools you need depend on methods you use. Since you posted here I imagine you are doing deer mounts, do you have a mounting manual or video? Either should provide you with tool ideas.
Where you buy them is totally up to you, some items are available only through suppliers, others are common. I got some modeling tools from my dentist for free! Order a catalog from a supplier, or go to their website, and look at what they sell, generally they have a description.
And if I don't do it, someone else will, I would guess that if you searched over on the left you will find this was covered here already.
Good Luck.
Books and Videos lessons will tell you what tools you will need and how to use them. After you study several different styles you will develope your own, and have tools you like. Some of my best tools are home made. Start simple and as you become more expirienced you will try different things ! GOOD LUCK !
I'm a beginner and have only mounted three deer heads. The only tools that I bought for my first deer were an X-acto knife and most importantly the Breakthrough deer mounting manual and videos. This forum was also a huge help, there is a wealth of information here. I then got a dremel tool that I found handy for fleshing and thinning around the face areas and some dentist tools at a flea market for the last two deer. You can see these deer at my web site at www.whitetaildeer-management-and-hunting.com. They are not that impressive but I learned a lot with each one. Whatever you do give it a try.
Taxi suppliers have a wide range of tools for the job that work well but can be pricey.I have ordered a few i cant find at your local store but normally i have built my own or went to a good hardware store to find tucking tools or also a good kitchen section of a store may hold some fancy cutlery that will do the job just fine Mark and Mike also had great points hope these help.
