Recently out trout fishing, we found a complete skeleton of an 8 point.
My son wanted the skull and antlers, now I have the skull and antlers but it smells very bad.

What is the best way to clean them up?, Boil, and soak with bleach?

Thanks for the advice.

Take them to a "do it yourself" car wash, and use the power sprayer to clean it up. You can then dip the skull in a mild bleach solution for a couple hours, and then lay out in the sun.
Should be ok .

Do Not Use Bleach!

Don't use bleach on any bone. If you must use it to kill the bacteria and smell, rinse it only in a mild solution and then only for a couple minutes, then rinse it off with a clean water to make sure that ALL the bleach is gone. LOTS of water!

Do not use bleach, as said before, it will eat the bone away. Use Sal Soda or Soda ash, but watch it, as it will eat the nasal bones away if unnatended, put some sal soda in with boiling water. It works great.
