I guess I meant to ask do you tuck the lip all the way in and then rebuild it or do you use the deers real lip?

all the way in. When it drys the lip will shrink and it will show slightly. I rebuild it with apoxie sculpt, texture it and paint. Hope this helps. PS don't tuck it so far that you mess up the hair patterns for the bottom lip. Tuck it just out of sight when you are looking at it staight on.
If you shave the chin thin and glue the lip in good, it will not move. I use super glue and position the lip the way I want it to look when finished and it stays put. I also make the lip slot very thin, so it helps grip the lip skin. After it dries I use Majic Scaulpt to fill in the tiny (1/100")crack between the lips. Then I paint it to match the way the deer looked originally. I also texture and paint the sides of the lip line the same way, but I only use super glue on the lower, front lip.
ALWAYS...in my humble opinion...use epoxy rather than super glue.

Epoxy has it's uses, but so does super glue. It takes me about 10 seconds to super glue in the lower lip and I've never had one pull out. I just hit it with Kick-It and it's done. I also use super glue to anchor the antler bases to the cape. Never had separation there eithor. Super glue is also great for glueing in lip lines on open mouth mounts and fixing small holes in the cape. For those people that say that super glue will not last long, I've got mounts that are over a decade old and still look like new that were super glued. It's good stuff.
