Has anyone ever came up with a way of fixing and coloring broken tines that come close to the true antlers? I'v looked in the orange button, just thought maybe someone has invented something new. Thanks Ronney

Antlers

Drill a small hole where the antler broke off about 1/2" deep.Next install a wire (12 gauge or so)into the hole with some epoxy on it.Cut off wire at desired length of tine, shape wire to desired curvature of tine, then mix up some sculp all and form your tine to desired shape and size, make them look natural(put lines or bumps or whathave you in it)Then let dry overnight.Paint the next day and let dry( I like to use a light brown).Let paint dry then Mix some dark oak stain with some potting soil and rub all over tine and into crevices.Let dry awhile then wipe off the excess.I have done this several times and they turn out great. You might have to do the last step several times until you get the desired shade of your particular rack.Hope this helps.Good Luck.

I'd suggest using a thin threaded rod as the support inside your "new tine".-Susan

do drill a hole and use a small threaded rod,i mix up some bondo and fiberglass resin and put this into the hole then i use bondo in small batches and work your way up and down the rod, after each application use a rasp and file down the bondo keep doing this till your there, then sand down with fine sandpaper, dremel in some markings and then use some oil paints or furniture stains to color, the bondo takes on color real good, good luck.

Shed Horns

You might want to try finding a shed horn of the same diameter where your horn is broke off. Cut off the tine drill holes in the cut tine and the boken tine and join with glue of choice. You can patch up the joint with bondo or whatever. And then stain. Shed horns are cheap to buy and you can't manufacture something better than the real thing. I have done several and most you can't tell they are add on's! There are many great idea's , you just have to be creative.
