Tanned Mule Deer cape slipping

I just mounted a Mule Deer this afternoon. I tanned the cape myself in the shop. I was pulling the cape over the manikin and I pulled 1" (diameter) of hair off of the neck. The hair seem to be loose in this area alone and the rest of the cape is fine. The hair on the cape covers the spot where the hair is gone. The deer is mounted and drying at present and i put a fan on it to speed things up. This is the first time this has happened to me and I would like to know if the hair will tighten up when the cape is completly dry. Thanks.

Am I missing something?

Michelle, I may have misinterpreted something but why would you count on hair hiding the bare spot? Why not transplant some hair and make it right?(if possible) It's your rep. Hope it works out for you. Jeff F.

should be fine

Michelle, don't groom the hide or touch it until it is dry and it should come out fine,as to the spot of hair that fell out ,I would cut it out in a football shape and than pin it back together with hide brads-you say the otherhair covers it up-it might do so right now,but as it dries might not look so good,so I would definately repair it now before it dries-I didn't repair a broad head hole as I should have one time, just alined the skin back together and pinned, the surrounding hair looked like it would cover it up,but when it had dried you could see the short hairs where the broadhead had went in and had I took the time to cut this area out I wouldn't have had that problem,I was just being lazy, hope this helps-John.

Hey Michelle hows it going?I have had that happen to me before using EZ-100.I think you told me thats what you use.I had a patch about the size of a fifity cent piece come off epidermis and all one time.Luckily it was on the back of the neck so it was easy to fix.You need to do what John suggested though.Cut it out, pull it together and brad down each side real good.Use good glue. When my mount dried the hair lock in good and tight. No more problems.Got the e-mail you sent with the pictures.Looks like you do great work.Have not mounted the cape I bought from you yet. Will send you a pic. when I do.
