I just started using Buckeye Supreme this year (since Nov. 2003). I shot three deer myself last season that I mounted and have on display in my studio. I also have customer mount that has not been picked up yet. These mounts have been done for three months and still have an odor from the Buckeye. I used to use another hide past last year and did not have this problem. I havn't gotten any complaints from my customers about odor problems yet. Has anybody else experienced lingering odors with Buckeye? Does it go away eventually? If so how long does it smell?

Buckeye supreme glue applied to a mount has no odor. If you are referring to a wet smell, or mildew, mold, etc, then thats not the glue. That would be a very common mistake made by many...using way too much glue. Hope that helps.
I use buckeye all the time, has no smell to speak of, if anything its pleasant when first opening the container.
The odor is not mold or mildew, rather it's a chemical smell. It's not overpowering. You have to get within a 6" to smell it. Perhaps the Buckeye is reacting differently with the tanning chemicals than my previous hide glue. I'm using the same tanning process as before.
As long as you are using it with a TANNED skin, which it appears you are, and not a DRY PRESERVE skin, it should be fine. I usually use a good bit of hide paste, and the odor from the Buckeye only sticks around for a week or so, until it is completely bone dry.

Its more likely the tanning oils you smell. The paste has a slight odor that basically disapears when dry. Buckeye Supreme Is the best water base on the market today in the way of holding power and ease of use, in my humble opinion.
