I do a lot of deer in NY. They average 71/4 x 17 or 18. The neck measurments corespond with a lot of 61/2 to 63/4. Should I but change out heads or continue shaving all the forms. That's a lot of shaving and test fitting. Does anyone know who has a lot poses with the measurments I need. I'm so tired of the mess. Thanks for the advice

why don't you try Van Dykes - Van Dykestaxidermy.com 1.800.843.3320
or [a supply company] at 1.800.535.8220 check them out they are not like useing McKenzie forms the have a lot of the smaller deer form as for large ones hope this helps
Call McKenzie's and Noonkester's supply houses and ask them if they can help you with this problem-chances are they'll be able to help or know of someone/somewhere that will. I know that if we Taxidermists' have problems with their forms and let them know about it, they try to come up with a solution for those problems. -Susan
Since the forms are 6 3/4" and your noses are 7 1/4, I'd compromise and extend the nose to 7". That's very do-able. Or, if your necks are so much bigger that you're creating a shaving mountain that the wife has to shovel you out of, I'd start cutting down the necks length-ways and gluing back together. Of course this required some artistic ability since you are altering the shape somewhat. Its either you have it or you don't. This is a do-it-yourself suggestion. change our heads means forking out some change. If that's okay then go for it. You could also buy an "in the middle" mannikin. The eye to nose would be okay (7") and the neck could be cut the same way, except be widened slightly. Again, if you're not good at alterations forget it.
