I attended the NTA Conference and a seminar was given on this method. For deer, hog, etc., minimum of 3000 psi is needed. Much less for bobcat, turkey, etc. I am anxious to try it myself. I am sure others can give more info than I first handed. Good luck.
We attended Richards seminar last year and bought a pressure washer on the way home.Have since demonstrated to other local taxis who have in turn all purchased one.I can hardly bring myself to pick up a knife anymore. It is so effective we were outside last January in 15 degree weather fleshing an elk hide that had been skinned in a sandy Hole.Immediatly dulled my fleshing machine blade.15 minutes with the pressure and hide was clean and white.(all right it was a little icy, lol)I still do the faces by hand,I'm not quite as brave as Richard yet,but the rest of a deer cape takes about 5 minutes. It also forces all the blood out of the skin.As far as I'm concerened the hides also dry faster. No membrane left in the way of drying. We use about 3500 psi with a turbo tip.Have done deer, bear elk, stag, caribou, antelope and numerous small animals. On the greasy stuff it actually emulsifies the fat.The only thing you need to have is space to do it.It does spread the stuff around.
2500 with a turbo tip works fine.
What kind of surface do all of you use.do you just lay the capes out flat on the ground.i have heard that using this method works and would like to try it but i just need to know where to place the hide.thanks
Any chance this seminar was taped and available for purchase? I would be interested in learning more about this method myself.
Thanks
