Stretching Cape

I have found a blacktail cape that I was looking for. The neck measurement is tanned dry at 16". From what I have read after rehydrating this I should stretch it side to side and then again length wise and should keep doing this until I can't get anymore strecth out of it ... Am I on the right track? ... and should this 16" cape fit an 18" form after rehydrating and stretching?

Thanks Asher

You're on the right track. We can't say that your measurements will increase that much, but it's quite likely.

Thanks George ... the way I figure it is I can rehydrate, stretch and if need be sand down a little more, I'm pretty confident it will work. Thanks for the reassurance.

Don Stevens put a 15" neck whitetail on an 18" form...it can be done. Yours may or may not work. Thin the cape well, use a good tan, and you will probably get that 2".

I've found trying to over stretch a cape makes the hair not lay wright and it almost makes it stand up
