I have about a half dozen whitetail capes that I bought green and had tanned. I didn't take measurements because I figured I would do that when I rehydrated them prior to ordering forms. Well, 3 years has passed and I have decided not to use them. I want to sell them. These are big(I bought none smaller than 24" at the atlas). I have NO freezer space available. What I want to do is rehydrate them for measuring only, and then let them dry again. Will that be OK? I don't want to risk slipping though. If rehydrating and redrying(LOL) won't work, how else can I get measurements to use in advertising the capes?

Well, if it was done properly, they aren't going to slip on you. Rehydrate them, measure them, roll them up and freeze them and then sell them as rehydrated frozen tanned deer hides. But I have to say, if I had a fist full of 24 inch necked deer under the chin, I wouldn't be in that big a hurry to ditch them. I'd FIND someplace to store them.
Yep, they were tanned by the Wildlife Gallery.
Nope, I have no freezer space...none available.
Yep, they are 24"+ but that is 3" down the neck. I think the throat measurements are 21"-22".
They are dandy's, but selling will be tough without specific measurements.
What kind of price do you have in mind? billyoxtaxidermy@yahoo.com
If you really want to sell them, then e mail me. I will take one before you rehydrate them. I need a replacement cape. If you are serious please e mail me with prices, area are they southern or northern deer? Thanks
