Should I stain Mule Deer antlers? I bought a set and I've been told they've lost most of their color. What do you think?
I look to you guys for guidance as I've never done anything remotely like this. I would like to keep these antlers displayed for a very long time.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Mulies are no different than any other animal. Their antlers vary in color and darkness. It all depends on what they have available to rub their horns on. A deer living in timber will have darker antlers than a deer from the prairie. That being said, you need to decide if the horns are naturally light, or if they are bleached out from the sun, exposure etc which gives them an un-natural color. If they are bleached out, then I would stain them. Make sure you test your stain combo on some other antlers first so you don't ruin them.
