I got a monster 200# 4x5 opening weekend and it took forever to drag it out. When I was skinning it, I noticed that there was a ring of hair that had been shortened by the harnice rope around the deer's neck. The hair is still there, but there is a very noticible ring. Is this something easy to fix and if so how do I go about it?

Rule #1. IF you HAVE to use a rope then attach the rope to the base of the antlers. Hard lesson to learn. Good Luck! Jeff F.
I know that now, but at the time I had never use one before and I foolishly followed the directions on the picture.
If taxidermists could grow hair, we wouldn't be taxidermists. That hair is destroyed and it's not going to be "fixable" by any means short of hide replacement. Sorry.
