rehydrating deer capes

what is the best method to rehydrate salt dried, and tanned capes? how long do you rehydrate?

If you're using a commercial tannery then you should use their specified instructions. On my dry tans(commercial) I usually rehydate in 5 gallons water to 1# salt and let soak for 45 minutes, then sweat overnight in a bag. There are also TONS of rehydrating methods in the archives. Peace- Jeff F.

After the 45 min. I hang the cape and wait for water to quit dripping. Jeff F.
