Smoothing Magic Sculpt

Submitted by Chuck on 10/15/04 at 7:17 PM. ( cberg@cbarchery.com ) 66.119.196.18

I having trouble getting the magic sculpt in the corner of the eyes to smooth out. Do you guys thin it down with anything so its softer. I mix it together and put water on my fingers while doing so and I just cant get it to smooth out like I've seen on some mounts. It seems to stiff. Thanks for any info on this.

Apoxy Sculpt

Use Apoxy Sculpt, it's smoother and easier to apply. Magic Sculpt is stiffer and better suited to things like building antler points.

Bad batch?

Is it old? Perhaps not a good batch? I have used it in the past and it was ok, but I agree, Apoxy Sculpt is the best product I have used. It is very smooth.

here comes that ugly Yox...

Know what works the BEST for the eyelids, and corners? The eyelid skin! Get used to mounting them a bit tighter in there and youll seldom need to fill that in. In the event of a cape cut short there, or damage/shrinkage and other assorted no-nos, try a small modelling tool, and wet it with lacquer thinner or alcohol.

i agree with yox

i hardly ever have to fill the corner of the eye and if i do its so little that it isnt even noticeable.

even with all stiff epoxy ,use warm water place part A & B in warm water, they mix it ,use wet tools and be sure the epoxy is wet,so you can work it around.Wet fingers and you can smooth it down very thin.

Use a small flat artist's brush dipped in water to smooth and feather your edges.

Roll it around

I mix the stuff then roll it in my hand vigerously until it is hot and soft. Then I apply it and smoth it out first with a scupturing tool and then with a wet Q-tip. I finish it with a China bristle brush.
