I just took in a velvet horned buck. Very late here for bucks to still have velvet and the horns are hard. It seems to me when they turn hard the chance of them smelling or rotting has passed. I've had a huge set in my shop for years and there has been no peeling or smell at all. I'm just wondering if there is still a need to have them freeze dried. And if there is a need then how expensize is it?
We are in a very dry climate with little to no humidity if that would make a difference. Can anyone fill me in on this topic? Thanks

Have a set out now , depending on size 8pt 11 in spread it was around 40.00 that wasn't including shipping. rather not take that chance to invite bugs of any sort.LOL
