I am looking to purchase a fleshing machine and I have been looking at the Dakota 4 and Dakota 5 from Van Dyke's. I am on a budget but don't what to wish I had gotten the bigger machine. Is the Dakota 4 big enough to do all the fleshing on white tail, bear and moose?

I purchased a dakota flesher 5 from Van Dykes last year and personally i wished i had not of done it. The brass guards on the front are not right, they dont ajust out evenly. I called them about the problem and they said they were aware of it and that the manufacturing company had made a bad batch. They said they were trying to correct the problem, but at the time that didnt help me after i spent all that money and i still had deer hides to flesh.They said they would send new guards for the flesher when they correct the problem so they did send them and they are the same way. If I were you i would ask them if the guards are corrected before you purchase them.

At Van Dyke's I would be glad to help you out . We do now have a new guard system for the Dakota V Fleshers.

I bought the big one from Van Dykes. Comes with a very usefull video and you actually watch this guy flesh a whole deer cape.The new guards are heavy black plastic and are not that hard to set.I even bought the table, its totally adjustable.I was shaving a hide the first evening.Clean it totaly after use or she'll rust quick on you.
WILL THE DAKOTA DETAL FLESHERS HAVE ANY PROBLEMS DOING DEER CAPES I DO 25-30 MOUNTS A YEAR. I LIKE THE COMPACT SIZE BUT WONDERING IF IT WILL DO THE WORK THANKS,CL
