I took in two very odd deer the other day' I have never seen any thing like this. both of these came in frozen' so it really amazed me when I could finaly look at them. the first one had such a large muzzle that I had to measure it' 8 1/4 from the eye to the tip of the nose'I always take the eye to nose' but then I measured the girth of the muzzle at the corner of the mouth' 15 3/4. have any of you seen any thing like this. the second deer has a cow lick right down the center of its back' it starts about 8" behind the ears' 1 1/4" wide and about 14" long.

It probably was hung by its back legs

If you hang a deer up by its hind legs the blood and body fluids naturally end up draining through the head and causes the face to swell.

I've had a few like that

They were obviously cause by bacteria injected into the nose and nostril area by fighting. Both looked like Bullwinkle noses. I mounted them conventionally by fleshing and just "packing" the skin on the appropriate form. You can scrunch the skin up to make it look good.
