does it matter if i salt my capes in an area thats a little chilly? i do it in my basement and theres no heat down there but its generally in the 50s, maybe a little cooler. will this affect my results? or cause slip problems? in the summer its hot and i run a de-humidifier down there, but winters coming and just want to be sure. thanks

should be ok

Capes will dry slower in the cool basement, You should still be running the dehumidifier, as long as you are drying capes or have mounts drying. Hopefully you are not laying the capes on the concrete floor, if your are, get some pallets to lay salted hides on while they are drying. Also use a fan on them, this will speed up the drying process.

Cooler the better

The cooler the better, I seem to have slip only when I salt in warm weather, so I wait until the weather is around 40 degrees or colder. Seems to work for me.

No problem

In the winter here I routinely salt hides when it's as cold as 20 degrees below zero, with no problems.
