I'm in northern Wisconsin and things are really dry here this year! Opening day was rainy and foggy! Nothing was moving! The week produced only 2 deer for our entire 7 person hunting party....what a bummer. To make matters worse I've only taken in one deer for mounting! I realize that a lot of guys are just bringing thier deer in for processing now ( the season closes tommorrow)...but thought surely I would have gotten more inquiries an drop-offs. Do you guys get deer in during the season or generally after? Been doing this for years now and am advertising for the first time. Seems in years past I've gotten more resposnse from word of mouth!
Should I be dissappointed or wait it out a little til guys get their deer back from the meat processors?

I live just south of the twin cities and this is the first time i have advertised and the best for me has been in the outdoor news not the phone book. i do believe that they do have one for wisconsin also
I get alot of calls from it
I live just outside Milwaukee and only got 4 heads in so far. Maybe the earn a buck isn't helping much. Hope things pick up after the season.
All have been large swell necks except for 3 of them. Our opening weekend produced some nice deer here in Indiana. Our season closes tomorrow for a week then comes muzzleloader season. Do not give up hope I usually get some stragglers throughout the year.

Zone T and Earn a Buck have hurt this year. I have 37 this year, last year was double at this time. The day after the season ends I usually take in my largest # for the year. One good thing about earn a buck is the following year should be a banner year. The quality (other than mine, which would be nothing) of the bucks I'm receiving is great, some real P&y's and B&C's. Remember when anything with a rack was something to brag about and people wanted them mounted? It sure wasn't that long ago. I guess maybe I might advertise for the ice fishing season to try to make up some of the slack. Good Luck Monday will be great! (I hope).
Has been a strange season.Tail end of the rut, wind, full moon and no snow.We register also and have listened to all hunters whining all week about not finding the deer.Maybe ..just maybe this will give us a chance to catch up a little, lol. One thing to look forward to tho is usually when we have a season like this the next year is wild.
only had 7 to mount this year, plus 3 european mounts. This is also the first year that I've passed out business cards, but most people around here know that I do taxidermy, so I don't think its an advertising thing.
Things have been slow here in wv too, not alot of bucks killed last week, i got 12 in and sure hope for more. I advertise state wide in the wv sportsman magazine which is a free monthly publication. The advertiseing seems to work some but word of mouth is best. I have found that for every good mount you do you gain a couple more customers. but if something were to go wrong well you know the rest of the story, it more than likely cost you 10 customers. dont panic not getting deer in early, alot of hunter seem to wait so hang in there it will get bettter.
Only planned to take in 20 max for my part time operation. Currently holding at 27 shoulder mounts and 6 antler plaques. I can't seem to turn them down as big as they have been this year. Several in the 140~150 class and 2 that should score well over 160!
