how long will a whitetail last in 50-60 degree weather......

before slippage occurs? a few hours? how about 12? guys calls and brings over this buck he shot from this morning and its been 12 hours since he shot it, i had to cape it out and throw it in the freezer. i told him no guarantees. should i be worried?

my disclaimer states no guarantee from the time i recieve it until the time it returns from the tannery period. his 12 hrs may really be 3 days. you have no way of telling! i would have split turned and salted rather than freeze though. usually if you get through the salting without any loose hair ur in good shape

i agree with paul, you should have salted it. i get deer all the time 3 days old and older, i always salt right away and turn everything. so far this season no problems, but ya never know. personally id bet it will be fine.

no it isnt 3 days old cause firearm just started today in illinois. nicest buck ive seen in a long time a real symmetrical 13ptr. thanks for the advice
