Mr Yox....or anyone

I just got in a canadian buck that weighed 320 pounds. The customer wants the laying down form on page 294 of the McKenzie cat. I saw your name as having mounted one of the deer there and just thought you might know if the larger form; form LD260 would come anywhere close to this size deer. The customer took no measurments before the deer was skinned. The measurments for this form are 24x46x68, fairly big, but not sure if I'll have to do a lot of altering. Just trying to get as close as possible before I start. I don't deal with many deer this size in Alabama.

The way I do things here is waiting till after its tanned, check all measurements, then call and double check with McKenzie. Id ask for Phil, Mike or Perry and see if they could get additional measurements for you to compare, like legs, etc...things that might indicate where your buck compares to the used for that model. Roger Martin most likely sculpted it, and they can help you. I apologize as I dont have the catolog in front of me, and am not familiar with that form number.

You would start with sizes like the eye to nose, neck, chest and total length, but on those big whitetails I also check the thickness of the legs, width of the skull, etc...indicators of a bigger framed deer. You might need to order the form without rods, have them sent but not poured, do your alterations, and install the rods later. I hope this gets you started in the right direction. Let me know.

oh and Ron?

Green hide first and then Tanned as Yox said, Manikins can easily be altered ,by making them wider ,fatter, or smaller.
When you get the Skin tanned we will walk you through alterations.

Thanks Bill

This is the biggest form I can find so I guess I'll have to beef it up if neccessary. I wish God had made animals more uniform. Would make our jobs a lot easier. Thanks again. Man!, Why can't Cecil be more like you!.

hahaha
