Submitted by newbirdman on 12/7/04 at 6:47 AM. ( ) 205.188.116.200

Okay , I got a whole corsican sheep in yesterday for a 1/2 mount and the guy didnt want the meat . Is it edible or will it be tough and taste funny ? He said the last sheep ( game farm bighorn ) that I butchered for him last year tasted terrible so he didnt want to eat this one . Should I just give it to my dog or is there any good recipes to cook it properly ? Theres not much meat anyway . Rick

eat the ones we kill. The meat is a little tough if you cook it to fast. I cook the ram meat in the oven at 350 for an hour per lb. then I cut it up put gravy on it (in the south gravy makes everything taste good)and serve over rice.

Marrinate the meat over night in the fridge. Then make stew out of it using the crock pot so that it can cook all day . That will tenderize it alot more ! Adding a splash of apple juice to the maridade will also take out alot of the wild taste . Hope I could finaly help ya Rick ! You have posted alot of advice that has helped me ! lol

1. Marrinate the meat over night.
2. Pound it with a meat tenderizer
3. Cook it on low heat for a long time
4. THROW IT IN THE GARBAGE! IT IS HORRIBLE! The dog wouldn't even eat it. LMAO

If you can get hold of English bitter (not lager or pilsner type drinks) put the meat in the bitter with a quarter chopped large onion and leave over night. The secret is, as mentioned above, slow cooking of any meat helps prevent toughening.

Kindest regards

The old rams taste terrible and smell worse. I don't eat large boars either though....

We take a large slab of fresh cedar wood.

Place it in the oven and preheat to 225 degrees.

While that is warming up, rub the ram meat with olive oil, fresh garlic and a mixture of 1 part sugar and 6 parts coarse salt.

Cook the meat 30 minutes per pound.

After you remove it from the oven let it stand at least 1 hour.

At this point, throw the meat away and eat the board....... it's the best part.

Corsicans seem to think so

The species isn't raised for meat, but it is eaten, but then so are bald eagles and osprey eaten by Cree Indians.

You can place the meat in a roasting pan and cover it with manure. The manure will keep the odor down. Bake at 325 for 30 minutes a pound and then throw away the meat and manure and eat the pan.

thanks every one
