I recently completed my first mount and now that the mount is dry I notice that somewhere in the drying process the eyes dried off-set. Can I rehydrate that eye area and repositon it or am I just out of luck? Any help would be really appreicated.

That's why I use Apoxie Sculpt and shave everything real thin. Done right and monitored for a couple of hours, and it's done forever. I believe others on this sight have been won over to the Apoxie Sculpt method (John C & others). But if you use the Apoxie Sculpt...make sure it's how you want it in the first hour or two or you'll have to live with it!
On the other hand, clay will move a bit if not watched closely and tweaked a bit as needed in drying process.
You may be able to rehydrate if the clay is still maleable. I guess it is possible to rehydrate the hyde (if epoxy-based hide paste was not used), work through the eye holes And remove and redo the eyes.
Good luck, friend!

just put wet towel over the eyes till clay softens back up you will be fine
That's a nasty way to get an untrue rumor started. MOST of us use clay for our eyesets and MOST of us have never experienced "shifting". I've used Apoxie and it's not that I don't like it (I do) but you can NEVER make rotation adjustments once it's cured. I like the flexibility to make those adjustments for a few days as the hide dries.
Thanks George!
After re-reading my response, above, it does seem to indicate "we all do it with Apoxie." Ooops! Did not intend it that way. That couldn't be further from the truth. I was tired, typing, and probably just spewing out fast advice...and when I just read it again in light of your feedback (and wide awake), I do see your point.
By "others,' I merely meant there are some of us, not all. Thanks for catching that. I, too do not want to leave a wrong impression.
Critter Clay is great, in fact best, in most instances (low shrinkage and just a good quality product).
There are times I PERSONALLY favor the Apoxie Sculpt for eye sets. I believe John C does as well. I love the stuff, and have never had unfavorable results with it (yet!).
Thanks, George for jumping in and clarifying.
