I was talking to a friend today and he made the comment "a taxidermist can only do one thing, deer or waterfowl and do it good".I totally disagreed with him and told him to stick to his one job that he bairly does at all.Just wondering what you all think?

everyone is entitled to their opinion. Your friend has his and you have yours. I know one person who is equal in all species, including reptitles -- all are bad... :-) But then, that's MY opinion. That other person happens to have another opinion that differs.

Someone with the skills to become a master in one class can apply the same discipline to any class and master it as well. Good taxidermists usually excell at everything.

Experience

It's all a mater of learning the proper techniques and recent experience. If someone doesn't practic their skills enough on what they claim expertise on though, they will be rusty and the end result will show. I only do deer heads these days becuase my schedule does not allow me to take in work outside of fall and I only have winter to do the taxidermy. I run a charter boat spring and summer.
