skin shrinkage/separation

i have been having an issue at times with shrinkage or separation of the hair/skin from around the antler burrs after mounting. i begin my stitching about 1/2" inside the point where the incision was made behind the antler and pull tightly but after drying the skin still tends to shrink. is there a secret or am i doing wrong?

i like to use zap a gap super glue around the burs so i know they will not seperate, but some use clay .
good luck

Use a little Epo-Grip hide adhesive and it will never pull away. BP

Don, To prevent the shrinkage around the antler bases you not only need good adhesive but most important you must rebuild the removed tissue with clay or similar filler. If you do not build up enough to support the skin in the area around the bases it will surely fail. Enjoy, Aaron H.
