I attended a seminar at the eastern regionals this year. One of the topics discussed using masking tape and super glue to repair holes in a cape. I have tried it several times and have mixed emotions on it. Seems like it just doesnt hold the two sides tight enough. I use McKenzie tanned capes and flesh them very thin. Any advice or opinions?

Sewing is really the only way to go. I'm sure others may think differently but if you're good you should have no problem sewing in any area of the cape.
A well sewn hole will never let go . I wouldn't trust any tape and glue trick to work . Maybe would try that if it were on an already finished piece . Bradlee
I use superglue gel and masking tape all the time. Works great. I use epply earliners and Magic Smooth for glue. Never had a problem. With this method, it simply needs to stop any Magic Smooth from leaking out and when it sets up its a done deal! Lance
P.S. Use good masking tape. The painter kind is very thin and won't show through but will not hold very long...especially with any moisture around.
Replace masking tape with dryer sheets and you'll find they hold better. Especially good on split ears.
