Does anyone have information or know any material i can reference to properly skin out a deer foot or hooved animal? The cape is currently frozen with the leg bone intact just below the dew claws. Unsure if the bone needs to be removed from the foot or how to do it properly. Also does the foot need to be preserved in any way before or tanning? I have watched many lifesize videos and have looked in books for this info but haven't had any luck. I have done several shoulder mounts and this will be my first lifesize so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Deer feet are the worst. You have to get them cores out all the way to do it right. You should cut around them with a skinny very sharp knife. Watch out you don't go through and stab through your hand. Most of the time you will cut yourself on these atleast I do LOL. Be very carefull take your time. jack f
